Popular MSN Messenger add on ''Messenger Plus'' contains spyware known as LOP.COM. Researchers at Kara Media (well, just me) have extensively checked the software and can conclude that Messenger Plus contains large traces of a porn dialer known as Lop.com. During the first installation of Messenger Plus, the user is asked whether they would like to support a third party program which they claim is a toolbar. If the user clicks ''Yes'', the Lop.com software is unleashed onto the computer along with Messenger Plus. In addition to constantly dialing for disgusting pop ups to appear, it also lowers your Internet Explorer's settings.

 

If the user clicked ''no'' the software will not have been loaded and you are free of lop.com. The solution? If you aren't sure whether you agreed or not, simply uninstall the Messenger Plus software and any additional software will be removed as well. Lop.com is considered not only Adware, but Spyware also, because it sends personal information over the internet such as your MSN contact list. Simply go to Start-->Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs and find ''Patchou Messenger Plus'' and Remove. That is all that is required.

 

I would, however, like to stress that ALL the information as to what the sponsor program does to your computer is CLEARLY explained in the licence agreement to which you clicked ''I agree'' when you installed it. The fact that the author has given a detailed explanation means that he cannot be blamed for this - the author of Messenger Plus is innocent, and it is you who is at fault for not carefully reading the terms and allowing this adware/spyware to be launched on your computer. I, personally installed Messenger Plus without the sponsor program, and thus I am safe.

 

Following the release of MSN Messenger's new service, Windows Live Messenger 8.0, Patchou is going to create a Live Messenger Plus. THIS TIME, THE AUTHOR MAY NOT GIVE YOU A CHOICE OF WHETHER TO INSTALL THE SPYWARE OR NOT, IT MIGHT JUST BE LOADED. You cannot afford to take that risk, so please, remove Messenger Plus from your system and stay WELL AWAY from ''Patchou'' or ''Messenger Plus''.

 

Messenger Plus is in NO WAY related to Microsoft or any MSN products. MSN is SAFE to use and Kara Media Corporation is determined to bring you only the truth. We do not wish to alarm you. Messenger Plus is a third party add on. I have uninstalled it successfully, and i hope you all do. This concludes the Kara Media Exclusive report.
